SilverBack Makes Headway With SMB Market

Billerica, Mass.-based SilverBack is entreating regional systems integrators and VARs to bundle the company's appliance and software into their broader portfolios, providing it as a remote managed service to customers. The solution comprises an integrated appliance and network monitoring software, which can be installed either on the service provider's or end user's network. The appliance self-configures, monitoring end-user networks via a VPN and issuing reports and alerts based on a number of customized IT measurement thresholds for server monitoring, fault tolerance monitoring, assets monitoring, security and preventive maintenance, vulnerability scanning, and other network problems for Netware, Solaris, Windows NT, Linux and HP-UX platforms.

SilverBack hopes to harness midmarket customers that cannot afford or manage large enterprise packages from the likes of CA, Hewlett-Packard or IBM's Tivoli. It currently has more than 40 partners and more than 400 end-user customers, and revenue is growing at 75 percent annually.
