Apple Reportedly Delaying Shipments of 27-Inch iMacs
Apple is said to be delaying shipments of the product to resellers by as much as two weeks because of the problems. Apple just unveiled the new line of iMacs, including models that use the 27-inch LED-backlit display, on Oct. 20.
The models are available in either dual-core or quad-core formats and use the AMD ATI Radeon HD 4670 or 4850 model graphics cards.
Apple is replacing the graphics card on the 27-inch iMacs, according to a Web site blog, Apple iMac (Fall 2009) Issues, set up to collect information about the problems.
Other Web sites, including Apple Insider, have posted reports of customers receiving the new iMacs with cracked screens with the damage occurring most often in the lower left corner.
Apple has said little about the display problems. Sunday CNET posted a story saying an Apple spokesperson had apologized for the shipping delays, without commenting on the reason behind the delays.
