The folks at TigerDirect may read this space, and have seen the observation about technology being a steal - - price wise - - when compared to the price of gasonline.

TigerDirect pushed a marketing email into my inbox yesterday headlined, "50 Deals Cheaper than a Tank of Gas!" (Exclamation point included in original.)

Some items that made the list:

A Linksys G router ($34.99); Motorola MotoROKR S9 Bluetooth Headphones ($49.99); Corsair 2 GB PC6400 DDR2 800 MHz Memory ($33.99)

Some things that didn't make the TigerDirect list that are also favorably compared to gas prices:

An AMD Quad-Core Opteron 2344 HE processor ($209 or about two SUV-tankfuls of gas); An Intel Quad-Core Q6600 ($193); Ubuntu version 8.04 ($0).

You get the picture.
