The Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) application, offered for the first time as a stand-alone product, integrates with ERP software from J.D. Edwards and other companies.

EAM is designed for use in construction, oil, telecommunications and other asset-intensive industries, according to J.D. Edwards. The software is designed to help shift production to other equipment when machines go down, synchronize repair work among appropriate staff and plan additional maintenance. EAM also detects when an aging machine should be replaced, the company said.

Other features in the new module include a failure-analysis component that pinpoints reasons why a machine failed and the ability to view a company's machines and other assets as pie charts and graphs.
