Channel Madness Quarterfinals: Check Point’s Rauch Out In Front Of McAfee’s McCray
As Round 3 rages on in the CRN Channel Madness tournament, the Enterprise 8 are fighting for a spot in the Field of Four.
The Enterprise 8 are squaring off in the quarterfinal round of the 2020 CRN Channel Madness Tournament of Chiefs, with the regional Infrastructure, Hardware, Cloud and Security crowns up for grabs.
The closest matchup of the moment is shaping up in the Security region, where Frank Rauch of Check Point Software Technologies has garnered 58 percent of the vote in his battle against McAfee’s Ken McCray, who stands at 42 percent. McCray, the champion of the 2018 Channel Madness tournament, is not expected to go quietly.
In the Infrastructure region, Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s Paul Hunter got off to a fast start against Cisco’s Oliver Tuszik. Hunter leads this one with 80 percent of the vote, to Tuszik’s 20 percent. But Tuszik has pulled off a come-from-behind victory in the last round, so don’t count him out yet.
In the Hardware region, HP Inc.’s Scott Lannum looks strong in his matchup against Lenovo’s Rob Cato, with 74 percent of the vote to Cato’s 26 percent. But Cato made it to the semifinals in last year’s tournament, so he knows what it takes to make the Field of Four.
And in the Cloud region, Veeam's Kevin Rooney is playing for keeps with 77 percent of the vote in his clash with Microsoft’s Gavriella Schuster, who’s at 23 percent. These two faced off in Round 2 of last year’s tournament, with Rooney emerging as the victor, so we’ll see if he’s got her number again this year.
Voting in Round 3 remains open until Thursday, March 26 at noon ET. Visit CRN.com/madness to cast your votes and choose your chief!
