The Channel Company held its NexGen Cloud conference in San Diego last week, and it was obvious how much the cloud is changing the industry. Here are eight cool sights and sounds spotted at the event. Three top vendors walked away with trophies from the CRN Test Center's Tech Tank competition at the NexGen Cloud Conference in San Diego. EMC, daVinci, Harmon.ie, FinancialForce, FireEye and Ruckus pitched their products as the most deserving of NexGen's 'Best of Show' award. AVG, already well known around the world for its free antivirus product, is planning to launch a new identity-as-a-service, and an executive says it's still very focused on security. The open-source cloud operating system enables solution providers to become innovators, says Mirantis' Alex Freedland. Ray Kurzweil, the futurist and inventor who's now a head of engineering at Google, says it won't be long before the cloud is helping people think and work with greater depth.
