Avaya Looks To Build Out Cloud Portfolio With ITNavigator Acquisition


Avaya Tuesday said it has acquired ITNavigator, an Israel-based unified communications (UC) company, in a bid to grow its own suite of cloud-based UC and contact center solutions.

An Avaya spokesperson told CRN terms of the deal, which closed Tuesday, are not being disclosed, but that ITNavigator is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Avaya. "We will keep the brand until the next version of products is released, which will be under the Avaya brand," the spokesperson wrote in an emailed statement.

According to Avaya, the acquisition will bolster both its Contact Center and Collaborative Cloud portfolios, largely through the addition of ITNavigator's cloud-based management and performance monitoring tools.

Avaya had ties to ITNavigator before this week's acquisition. Founded in 2001, ITNavigator has traditionally been the OEM provider of Avaya's Contact Center Control Manager, a monitoring solution that gives contact center administrators visibility into users, agents and other items from a single web-based interface.

"IT and contact center executives and managers are in need of solutions that simplify day-to-day operations and enable them to quickly and easily bring on new capabilities," said Gary E. Barnett, senior vice president, and president of Avaya's Collaboration division, in a statement. "Our experience with ITNavigator -- and perhaps more importantly -- our customers' experience with ITNavigator, has indicated that they bring a differentiated, easy-to-use set of solutions that makes the promise of 'next generation' contact center, unified communications and cloud-based applications a reality."

Avaya said its acquisition of ITNavigator also will boost its social media prowess, giving it access to ITNavigator's cloud-based social media monitoring and response solutions for sites including Facebook and Twitter.

This solution, Avaya said, will complement its existing social media manager tool, which is used to track and analyze social media conversations related to a user's business or brand.

Avaya's acquisition of ITNavigator marks the Santa Clara, Calif.-based company's most recent push to bulk up its family of cloud-based UC and contact center offerings. Earlier this year, Avaya unveiled its new UC-, contact center- and video-as-a-service offerings, all of which are based on its Aura core architecture.

These offerings, along with those Avaya is gaining through its ITNavigator buy, are part of Avaya's Collaborative Cloud portfolio of hosted services.
