VAR Steps Into The Ring For Charity

The much-anticipated boxing match between Michael Lohan (Lindsay's estranged father) and Bob Venero, CEO of Future Tech Enterprise, a Holbrook, N.Y.-based solution provider, will have to wait. Venero had ponied up nearly $30,000 to battle Lohan as part of Long Island's Fight For Charity event next month.

Unfortunately, Lohan is not able to box because he is on parole after serving a 30-month sentence for various probation violation charges after a DUI arrest. Here, Jeff Cohen, the founder of Fight For Charity, gives the bad news to the crowd of more than 100 gathered on Oct. 29 in Long Island for a "weigh-in" between contestants. Cohen said Venero will fight Lohan next year.

Venero, in white sweater and jeans, takes to the stage Tuesday night to announce that he will still fight on Nov. 24, but this time against Scott "The Gubes" Guber, a Long Island CPA.

Venero and Guber square off for the crowd. The bout will be the first for Venero, but Guber has competed in past Fight For Charity events and prepped for the November bout by running in last weekend's New York Marathon.

Venero thanks the crowd for supporting Long Island's Fight For Charity. He later told ChannelWeb, "I'm looking forward to the experience of my first boxing match and knowing that all my hard work and dedication will pay off in the ring. We are still hoping for a reprieve from the governor's office so that Michael Lohan can fight, but if that doesn't happen, we will still fight in a major event in March."

Future Tech created a sign to support the boss, dubbed the "Humanitarian Hitman."

The solution provider even had T-shirts and hats made to commemorate the event.

Joe Desantis, a software technologist with Future Tech, showed his support for Venero.

"We are still helping to raise money for several worthy charities. My training has been going well and I'm having a lot of fun with it," Venero said.

Venero threw hats and T-shirts into the crowd, which quickly scooped them up.

"As a former football player and wrestler, I'm looking forward to the butterflies in my stomach and getting ready to take down my opponent," Venero said.
