We've sought to identify 100 IT resellers with a legitimate stake in the health-care channel -- those solution providers, developers and integrators who will chase the opportunities that present themselves now, and may yet define the opportunities to come in this vertical. Infosys
CEO: Kris Gopalakrishnan

The outsourcing giant is one of India's largest technology companies, and among its health-care offerings are ARRA meaningful use optimization services, testing and development services using Infosys' MaskIT software for privacy of sensitive data, and a range of solutions around health-care claims modernization, relationship management and more.

Integration Partners

Principal: Bart Graf

A fast-growth VAR and top Juniper and Avaya partner, Integration Partners, Lexington, Mass., ranked No. 463 on the CRN VAR500, and it combines breadth and depth in IT consulting services with security offerings and networking and infrastructure plays. Health care is its largest focus vertical, particularly customers in the larger enterprise band of the market.

Internetwork Engineering

President: Greg Rivers

A top Cisco Gold partner in the Southeast, Charlotte, N.C.-based Internetwork Engineering handles the bulk of the networking titan's health-care deployments in the region, from wireless to infrastructure. Its health-care solutions center on clinical efficiency, mobility, security and compliance issues, networking services and infrastructure and data storage.

INX

CEO: Mike Hilz

One of the country's top providers of IP communications and data center solutions, and a top Cisco VAR, INX, Houston, is also a health-care heavyweight, covering everything from infrastructure and video needs, to EMR-ready servers, DICOM imaging and health-care VDI that includes location awareness and security.

ISG Technology

President: John Gunn

A VMware Premier partner and a major cloud and virtualization player, and a health-care IT mover and shaker, Salina, Kan.-based ISG Technology has plenty to crow about. Attacking infrastructure needs from all sides—ISG also partners with Citrix, Cisco, HP, IBM, NetApp, Microsoft and others—it's well poised at the forefront of data center evolution in enterprise health-care settings.

LaSalle Systems

CEO: Robert Metzen

LaSalle has reseller relationships with a swath of networking, infrastructure, PC, print, security and mobility vendors, offers asset and contract management services, provides equipment leasing and other financing options, and offers disposition, recycling and compliance services. Health care is a leading vertical for the Rosemont, Ill., solution provider, which ranked No. 242 on the CRN VAR500 list.

Laurus Technologies

CEO: John Udelhoften

Ranked No. 323 on the CRN VAR500, Laurus, Itasca, Ill., has been steadily growing for a decade and has a strong presence in the Midwest. Among its particular focuses for health-care are data center consolidation, privacy, auditing and security in EMRs, thanks to its ongoing partnership with Fairwarning, and a virtual infrastructure desktop offering through Thinidentity.

LBMC eHealth Solutions

President: Tom Tarver

Its game is turnkey IT outsourcing for physician practices using its hosting facilities. Along with targeted services for HITECH, RAC and security and compliance, LBMC, Brentwood, Tenn., maintains a number of reseller relationships, including an exclusive partnership with Athenahealth for its practice management and EMR software and services.

Legacy Data Access

CEO: Shelly Peters

Legacy Data Access, Marietta, Ga., offers data storage and access services for systems being retired, and it's finding no shortage of need from health-care organizations with years of billing, patient data and other administrative backlog to keep secure. It offers a number of functions through its LegacySuite package, and partners with IBM, McKesson, RelayHealth and others.

Lilien

CEO: Geoffrey Lilien

Ranked No. 424 on the 2010 CRN VAR500 list, Lilien, Larkspur, Calif., caters to enterprise clients seeking networking, infrastructure, enterprise management software, virtualization, data management and server solutions, with a keen focus on health-care enterprise and customer needs.

Lockheed Martin

CEO: Robert Stephens

Though perhaps better known for its defense and aeronautics focuses, Lockheed, Bethesda, Md., has a sizable health-care IT practice offering everything from secure health information exchange to enterprise EMR systems, IT services and outsourcing, biomedical and clinical support, cybersecurityand more. Ranked No. 9 on this year's CRN VAR500 list, Lockheed, which grew its revenue 5 percent last year, remains a mammoth.

Logicalis

CEO: Terry Flood

The $855 million VAR ranked No. 76 on this year's CRN VAR500 list, dealing primarily with networking, infrastructure, business intelligence and application solutions, with health care as a major focus. Farmington Hills, Mich.-based Logicalis' vertical-specific specialties include everything from data center and storage management technologies to application integration and business continuity.

Maritec Medical Systems

President: Robert Ontolchik

Twenty-two-year-old Maritec is a top VAR and provider in the Midwest of various McKesson software suites and is an authorized dealer of Dell and HP hardware to support its expansive software applications portfolio. Of note is how Maritec, Westlake, Ohio, has taken the stimulus bull by the horns, with clear analysis and ongoing support for organizations seeking EHR implementation in compliance with ARRA regulations.

MaxIT Healthcare

CEO: Parker Hinshaw

Westfield, Ind.-baed MaxIT's consulting practice has a laser focus on EMR and other forms of health-care enterprise software, and its partnerships—McKesson, Epic, Eclipsys and Siemens among them—are some of the space's top guns. Its consulting and integration strengths include HIS/EMR, management consulting, clinical practices, ERP and payer services.

Med3000

CEO: Patrick Hampson

Along with a range of proprietary solutions, mighty Med3000, Pittsburgh, touts its ongoing relationship with AllScripts—for which it is one of the largest resellers of AllScripts Vision and AllScripts Tiger PM Practice Management applications, AllScripts Enterprise EHR, Misys EMR and Misys Transaction Services—and Sage Software, for which it is the largest ASP-provider and reseller of Sage's The Medical Manager practice management application

MedeAnalytics

CEO: Michael Gallagher

A Microsoft-centric ISV and leader in health-care-specific performance analytics, MedeAnalytics, Emeryville, Calif., offers a range of consulting services to providers and payers alike. The company provides a Web-hosted, managed analytics platform for collecting and compiling data, and the dashboards are customizable for clients' specific metrics.

Melillo Consulting

CEO: Mark Melillo

With health care as its largest vertical market served, Somerset, N.H.-based Melillo, No. 368 on this year's CRN VAR500 list, offers a full range of IT consulting and storage and infrastructure solutions, as well as disaster recovery, data center services, risk management, staff supplementation and virtualization.

Microwize Technology

CEO: Robert Gabriel

A top solution provider in EMR, medical billing and practice scheduling software, Microwize, Paramus, N.J., partners with some of industry's biggest vendors, including McKesson and AllScripts, and sports what it calls one of the highest success rates for EMR implementations in the country.

NWN

CEO: Mont Phelps

NWN, Waltham, Mass., climbed to No. 181 on the CRN VAR500, and while the accounting and financial services industries are listed as its top vertical market served, the company has a strong-and-getting-stronger focus on public sector, particularly state and local government, and, yes, health care, with a fully dedicated practice focused on medical-grade networking, logistics, data center and infrastructure solutions.

Northrop Grumman

CEO: Wes Bush

Monster defense contractor Northrop Grumman, Los Angeles, (which plans to move its headquarters to Northern Virginia next year) has been a CRN VAR500 staple for a decade, this year coming at No. 8. Its health-care practice is vast, and its technology tentacles reach into every federal agency with health-care responsibility. This month alone, the company reeled in a big one: a $5 million contract from the CDC.

Open Systems Technologies

President: Dan Behm

No. 425 on the CRN VAR500, Open Systems Technologies, Grand Rapids, Mich., has a, you have to say it, "healthy" stack of enterprise storage solutions, disaster recovery services, virtual desktop offerings, systems monitoring capabilities, consolidation and virtualization specialties, medical archiving and more. HP, Cisco, Oracle, NetApp and many others dot its line card.

Orion Health

President (North America/EMEA): Paul Viskovich

Orion Health is a developer of clinical information software for clinical staff and health-care managers and has reseller and integrator partners all over the world to which it provides that software. But the Santa Monica, Calif., company also partners with a number of vendors and other integrators, and licenses technology from other vendors—including Merge Healthcare—to build solutions for physician, hospital and HIE customers.

Paragon Development Systems

CEO: Craig Schiefelbein

As a top reseller of life-cycle management products and services, the $130 million Paragon landed at No. 230 on this year's CRN VAR500 ranking. With a wide range of partners, from Kaspersky and Lenovo to Novell, VMware and Microsoft, the Oconomowoc, Wis., company offers the gamut of infrastructure, security and enterprise software solutions for the vertical.

PC Connection

CEO: Patricia Gallup

Virtual desktop, smart card technology, disaster recovery and business continuity are just a few of the health-care touch points for Merrimack, N.H.-based PC Connection's HealthConnection unit. A ranking behemoth—its 2009 gross revenue of $1.57 billion secured it No. 57 on the CRN VAR500—it can certainly hang with the class of direct market resellers focused on the vertical.

Perficient

CEO: Jeffrey Davis

Perficient (CRN VAR500 No. 190) had a tough 2009 and saw its gross revenue decline some 18 percent from the previous year. But the St. Louis-based health-care consultancy remains solid, and benefits from the breadth of its partner portal, education, technology consulting, custom application and BPO services it can offer.

PHNS

CEO: Daniel Allison

Established for two decades as a go-to health IT services provider, PHNS Dallas, describes itself as providing "innovative solutions for complex problems," and its list of health-care-oriented technology services includes everything from applications and business continuity to HIM, EMRs, auditing and coding (both on-site and remote), transcription and more.

Physicians Trust

CEO: Steve Rhodes

EMR implementation, workflow consulting, EMR readiness assessment, billing services, IT consulting, meaningful use preparation … well, Physicians Trust is a big believer in truth in advertising. The Irvine, Calif., compnay's practice spans larger hospital customers and smaller physician practices, as well as EMR integration services.

Portico Systems

CEO: Ned Moore

Portico's consulting practice drives support services for health-care organizations through a methodology called FastTrack. Through its software development business, the Blue Bell, Pa., company provides integrated provider management software for insurers, including design, collaboration, reimbursement, workflow automation and more.

Precyse Solutions

CEO: Jeffrey Levitt

If it's an HIM need, Wayne, Pa.-based Precyse has it covered, offering everything from revenue cycle management and compliance to EMR readiness, business process outsourcing, coding services, transcription services, clinical documentation improvement and oncology data management. PrecyseAssist provides 24x7 access to a network of experts in clinical coding documentation.

Presidio

CEO: Joel Schleicher

Presidio hit No. 65 on the CRN, and in gross revenue crossed the $1 billion mark in 2009. In addition to its vast portfolio of storage, networking, infrastructure, security and virtualization solutions, the Greenbelt, Md., company has a dedicated health-care practice focused on the medical-grade network and managed services.

QuadraMed

CEO: Duncan James

Mighty software player QuadraMed, Reston, Va., offers a range of integrated revenue cycle solutions and services, including access management, identity management, health information management, patient revenue management, and a branded EMR.

Quilogy Services

CEO: Jim Foy (Aspect)

Leading Microsoft integrator Quilogy, St. Charles, Mo., was sold to Aspect earlier this year. Quilogy, now an Aspect subsidiary, still offers a compelling mix of strategic planning, design, architecture, user experience, hosting, custom development and BPO services for Microsoft, Aspect and other software platforms and leverages Quilogy's deep bench of expertise with public sector and health care vertical solutions.

RCM Technologies

CEO: Leon Kopyt

Health care is but one area of specialization for RCM Technologies, ranked No. 275 on the CRN VAR500. The Pennsauken, N.J., company was challenged in 2009, with its gross revenue having declined some 57 percent year over year, but RCM Health Care Services has remained a key piece of the business, and its services include staffing, consulting and custom software development. It's still being eyed as an acquisition target; RCM rejected a takeover offer from CDI Corp. this summer.

SAIC

CEO: Walt Havenstein

A perennial powerhouse on the CRN VAR500 list—it climbed to No. 12 this year—SAIC, San Diego, maintains a robust portfolio of health-care offerings including a staff roster of IT, public health, life sciences and health services experts and a range of health data management, systems integration, software life-cycle management and security services.

SL Powers

CEO: Rory Sanchez

Health care is a huge focus for SL Powers, which drives IT professional services, procurement and logistics and managed business solutions among its top technology sales. A top Florida solution provider, the West Palm Beach-based company ranks Citrix, IBM, Microsoft, VMware and WatchGuard among its closest partners.

Software Information Systems

CEO: Steve Sigg

Brawny SIS, Lexington, Ky., offers server and storage optimization, virtualization, business continuity, network and data security, managed maintenance services, staff augmentation, collaboration, messaging and custom software development. Health care is a prime focus for the CRN VAR500 contender, ranked No. 340 this year.

SXC Health Solutions

CEO: Mark Theirer

One of the country's leading solution providers focused on the pharmacy industry, Lisle, Ill.-based SXC's various offerings include pharmacy benefit management and business management software and a variety of health-care informatics, including pharmacy technology services for application service providers, formulary management and software platforms for electronic prescription processing.

System Research Services

CEO: Marc Holland

SRS, New City, N.Y., covers the gamut of services and consulting for the health industry value chain, with particular focus on health-care service delivery. The company offers both advisory and custom research services—including IT strategic planning, IT governance and meaningful use readiness assessment.

Technologent

CEO: Lezlie Gallaway

Health care is a key strength of Technologent, an infrastructure and data center specialist and a top Oracle-Sun solution provider. The Lake Forest, Calif., company has a range of competencies including assessment, design, integration, systems management and financing. Technologent is also a prominent partner of IBM, EMC, HP, Microsoft, Cisco, VMware, Hitachi Data Systems and plenty of others.

Telus Health Solutions

CEO: Marc Fillon

A wholly owned subsidiary of Canadian telco giant Telus, Telus Health Solutions in 2008 acquired Emergis, one of Canada's top health-care IT providers, and hasn't looked back. From unified patient records and clinical applications to PHRs, remote patient monitoring, call center, mobility and managed services, Montreal-based Telus Health Solutions has breadth and depth to spare.

The TriZetto Group

CEO: Trace Devanny

Trizetto, Greenwood Village, Colo., offers a substantial range of software and services offerings, including core administration, care and network management, constituent Web solutions, Medicare Advantage and managed Medicaid plan support, hosting services, business process services and professional services. In August, the company acquired Tela Sourcing and earlier this year nabbed No. 110 on the CRN VAR500 list.

TSI Healthcare

CEO: David Dickson

EMR. EPM. eRx. RCM. DMG. Do you know what these acronyms mean? TSI certainly does, and the Chapel Hill, N.C., solution provider offers a crack team of clinicians, former practice administrators, systems engineers and EMR experts focused on tough-nut-to-crack areas like federal stimulus funding for physician practices. Its line card of prominent partnerships includes NextGen, McKesson, Microsoft, Cisco and many others.

Vangent

CEO: Mac Curtis

Ranked No. 112 on the CRN VAR500, Arlington, Va.-based Vangent's health-care tool bag includes system and application development and integration, data extraction, transformation and loading, system testing and support, system operations, security and maintenance services. Its customers include the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Indian Health Service.

Varrow

CEO: Dan Weiss

Varrow's focuses include virtualization, storage, disaster recovery, virtual desktop architecture, data protection, data center networking and private cloud platforms. Greensboro, N.C.-based Varrrow was No. 2 on the CRN Fast Growth list with 875.6 percent growth over the past two years and is Vblock certified, with the highest data center certifications from Cisco, EMC and VMware. No question health care is one of its prime business areas, too.

Via Technology

President: Manuel Villa

A fast-growing VAR, Via Technology on the services side counts consulting, staff augmentation, IT outsourcing, cabling, security and storage among its many strengths, as is Via-Watch, the company's suite of managed services and automation tools. Via, San Antonio, is on target to do about $4 million in health-care revenue this year on the strength of its growing sales organization and focus on stimulus package business.

Virtual Officeware

One of GE Healthcare's top U.S. partners, 10-year-old Virtual Officeware provides GE's Centricity Practice Solution for physician practices to more than 2,000 physicians in 18 states. The Pittsburgh-based company is heavily focused on federal-stimulus-based health-care opportunities.

Vital Signs Technology

CEO: Patrick Wilson

Vital Signs says it all right up front: "IT solutions, security and support for the health-care industry." The San Ramon, Calif.-based company's IT-based solutions include Hardware-as-a-Service, consulting, network security, mobile computing, remote storage, disaster recovery and managed support services.

Vitalize Consulting Solutions

CEO: Bruce Cerullo

A leader in clinical and IT solutions for healthcare enterprise, Vitalize, Reading, Mass., specializes in Cerner, Siemens, Epic, AllScripts, Meditech and McKesson software and recently added an ambulatory and practice management portfolio to its slate of project management and other solution offerings.

Wipro Technologies

Chairman: Azim Premji

The nearly $5 billion integrator and outsourcer notched No. 26 on the CRN VAR500, and can name a health-care practice focused on both the payer and provider arenas as one of its strongest. Hospital information services, clinical, laboratory, retail pharmacy and pharmacy benefit management are all among the Mountain View, Calif., company's offerings.

World Wide Technology

CEO: Jim Kavanaugh

A top security, UC, wireless and data center solution provider, and No. 50 on the CRN VAR500, WWT, Maryland Heights, Mo., has a robust health-care practice that incorporates everything from WLAN to medical asset visibility tracking, data backup and disaster recovery, collaboration, patient identification and tracking, and storage and archiving.
