Lexmark's New Printers Focus On Cost Savings

Lexmark recently rolled out a bevy of new printers, including color, monochrome and multifunction laser models. Here's a look at what the new portfolio has to offer.

Lexmark C540n

Part of Lexmark's new C540 series of color laser printers, the C540n is billed as an easy-to-use small workgroup model that prints up to 21 ppm in color and black. It is available at an estimated street price of $349. Cost-cutting features include instant warm-up fuser technology, which the company says means the printer uses less power when not in use and still prints the first page quickly. It also includes a power-saving Eco-Mode.

Another model in the C540 series, the C544n color laser printer promises even faster speeds—up to 25 ppm in color and black—for desktop or workgroup printing, starting at an estimated street price of $449.

Lexmark also rolled out the new X540 series of color laser multifunction printers. The new line includes the X543dn, which prints at speeds up to 21 ppm in color and black. The unit combines copy and scanning functionality, built-in two-sided printing and high-yield toner cartridges for an estimated street price of $599.

Another member of the X540 series is the X544, a color laser MFP with print, copy, scan and fax capabilities. It promises print speeds of up to 25 ppm in color and black and features two-sided scanning, access to extra-high-yield cartridges and more robust paper handling for larger workgroups, the company says. Street pricing is expected to start at $699.

Lexmark also introduced the new Lexmark 650 family of monochrome laser printers and MFPs. The X650 MFP includes printing, copying, scanning and faxing capabilities with finishing features such as stapling and mailbox options. It also includes the vendor's e-Task color touch screen, as well as Eco-Mode for reduced power consumption and Quiet Mode for reduced noise.

Lexmark's new X651de monochrome laser model prints and copies at speeds up to 45 ppm and scans at up to 55 ppm. Lexmark also offers the X652de, which adds fax capabilities. Both feature a color touch screen. Pricing starts at $1,599.

The vendor's T650 monochrome laser models are built for small and midsize workgroups. The line offers print speeds of up to 45 ppm and ships with a 7,000-page print cartridge for prices starting at $699. The T650n is shown here with an optional 250-sheet paper drawer.

Lexmark's T652 line of monochrome laser printers offers faster speeds (up to 50 ppm) and built-in two-sided printing on higher-end T652dn and T652dtn models. The T652 models ship with a 10,000-page print cartridge, with prices starting at $799.

For customers with higher-end needs, Lexmark offers the new T654 monochrome laser printers, which add the vendor's Embedded Solutions Framework enterprise workflow offering. The T654 models include 256 MB of memory and 600MHz processors. They print at up to 55 ppm, ship with 10,000-page print cartridges and offer support for Lexmark's extra-high-yield 36,000-page cartridge for prices starting at $1,099.

For SMBs, Lexmark offers the new E260d and E260dn monochrome laser printers. Built to fit on a desktop, the models print at speeds of up to 35 ppm for prices starting at $199.

Lexmark's E360d and E360dn monochrome laser models print at up to 40 ppm. They add expanded memory and include a 50-sheet multipurpose feeder, as well as optional paper drawers for higher input capacity. Pricing starts at $349.

The vendor's new E460dn and E460dw monochrome laser models are aimed at SMBs that need built-in networking capabilities. The models add features such as early warning alerts for low toner and a 10-digit numeric pad for secure print release. The E460dw also offers integrated wireless 802.11n printing. The E460 models print at speeds of up to 40 ppm and are priced starting at $599.
