Six Sizzling CES 2014 Rumors

Rumorville

The road to the Consumer Electronics Show is always paved with plenty of rumors and speculation about the newest gadgets and flashiest technology. Here's a look at six of the most popular products rumored to make an appearance in Las Vegas next week.

Huawei PhoPad

What's a "PhoPad," you ask? Good question. Huawei recently trademarked the name PhoPad with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and rumors are swirling that the Chinese networking company will make some kind of revelation around the new mobile device next week in Las Vegas. Is it a mobile phone? Is it a tablet? According to the trademark filing, it could be both.

Samsung Galaxy Note Pro

Samsung has been known to make a big splash at CES in recent years with incredibly large and flashy booths, not to mention a host of alluring products. While the company has reserved its Galaxy S smartphone introductions for Mobile World Congress, Samsung is expected to introduce several new tablets in Las Vegas, and the hot rumor is around the Samsung Note Pro. According to ZDNet Korea, the new 12.2-inch Android tablet, which comes with a 2.4GHz processor and 3 GB of RAM, will be unveiled at CES and launched sometime in the first quarter of 2014.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite

Another tablet rumored to drop at CES is Samsung's Galaxy Tab 3 Lite, according to various reports. Samsung is preparing a new Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite, Gotta Be Mobile recently reported. Models for CES will be cheaper and smaller versions of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. The 7-inch Lite models will come with 8 GB of internal storage plus a 1.2GHz processor and 1 GB of RAM. While the specs are much lower than your average Android tablet, Gotta Be Mobile reports the Lite models will be aggressively priced at around $129.

Sony Virtual Reality Headset

In the video game industry, the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset has garnered a lot of attention. According to recent reports, Sony is hoping to get on the virtual reality trend with its own VR headset, which will debut at CES next week. Originally, rumors had Sony's VR headset arriving at the Tokyo Game Show last summer, but the device was a no-show. According to The Telegraph, Sony recently filed a patent related to a head-mounted VR display. In addition, Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Computer Entertainment's Worldwide Studios, recently Tweeted a cryptic statement to a reporter that suggests a new VR headset will indeed be in Las Vegas next week.

Google Nexus 10 (Second Generation)

Google has already launched the second generation of its popular Nexus 7 tablet (pictured). So when will the next Nexus 10 arrive? According to several reports, Google will introduce the new Android-based, 10-inch tablet at CES next week, which will feature a 10.4-inch AMOLED display. And according to Netherlands-based Tablets Magazine, the manufacturing partner is likely to be Samsung.

LG G2 'Mini'

LG is also no stranger to CES rumors and big product introductions at the Las Vegas event. This year's rumor centers on a mini version of the company's flagship smartphone, the LG G2 (pictured). According to Greek site Techblog, the new smartphone will come with a 4.7-inch display, Qualcomm's quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and 2 GB of memory (the device's display resolution is unknown at this time, according to the report). Techblog reports the LG G2 Mini will likely make its debut at CES 2014.
