And he updated his Dell "customer experience" story here, with more of the same. He adds, "If it's this bad for me. . . . what must others be going through? I foresee many unhappy Dell customers this holiday season."

If Dell reduced call transfers by 30 percent through the third quarter, Curly Eric's experience won't help its fourth-quarter measurements.

In another area, though, Dell appears to be following through on its pledge to try to resolve customer problems that do surface on blogs or Internet message boards. Earlier this week, someone posting to the Dell finance message board at Yahoo complained that after purchasing a laptop from Dell in April, two mysterious Dell computer purchases were billed to the customer's credit card last week. That was followed by this response from "Margo" at Dell customer service apologizing and promising to help.
