However, Sony is serious about making the VAIO P-series a fully functioning PC even though it comes in such a small package. The VAIO P-series comes equipped with a full keyboard and screen large enough to maintain two windows without having to squint.

With netbooks on the rise, customers are looking to go small without giving up any functionality. To that end, the VAIO P-series gives users two operating system options upon boot-up. For a user who needs to access documents and other information, Windows Vista comes preloaded on the machine, accompanied by all the functionality that OS brings.

But for someone who's riding the train to work or sitting in an airport, the VAIO P-series can also boot directly into the XrossMediaBar (XMB). Running the machine using XMB gives users easy access to the Internet and other functions without loading Vista in its entirety.

Equally impressive is that the VAIO P-series comes equipped with the VAIO Everywair WWAN. The Everywair WWAN allows for broadband connectivity and makes the device 3G-enabled. Even though this PC is small enough to fit in your pocket, you can surf the Web on the same network that most mobile devices use on a daily basis. The difference, however, is that rather than working in a smartphone OS, the VAIO P-series is still a fully functional laptop.

The VAIO P-series comes with 2 GB of RAM and a 1.6GHz CPU. In the interest of making the pocket PC lighter and more portable, Sony has equipped the VAIO P-series with a 128-GB solid state hard drive.

European customers can expect the VAIO P-series to begin shipping in February with a price tag of about $900. No word yet on availability in the U.S.
