Apple iPhone OS 3.0 Event Next Week
The meeting will be held in a town-hall format, similar to past events where the iPhone OS 2.0 was revealed. The date for the event is reportedly scheduled for 10 a.m. on March 17.
Ars Technica posted an invite they received to the event.
Reuters reported that the invitation includes a "sneak peek" at the version 3.0 of the iPhone OS and provides new information about the new software developers kit.
The event is undoubtedly being anticipated by both software developers and iPhone owners. Wish lists of functions -- such as the ability to cut and paste or to send multimedia text messages -- have been present since the original launch of the mobile device in June of 2007.
The anticipation leading to the upgrade of the second-generation iPhone in July of 2008 had users debating what sort of features would and wouldn't be included. While the phone did gain 3G capability, cut and paste, sadly, hasn't been added to the iPhone's native functionality.
While the event is scheduled to take place in just five days, iPhone users and software developers are already dreaming up new features that might be supported. Let the speculation continue.
