EOS Rebel T1i Digital SLR Camera Offers Full HD Video Capture
The Canon Rebel T1i SLR includes a 15.1-megapixel CMOS sensor and high-definition video capture, along with the company's DIGIC 4 imaging processor.
It follows the September 2008 launch of Canon's EOS 5D Mark II SLR digital camera, which featured a 21.1-megapixel full-frame 24 x 36mm CMOS sensor, DIGIC 4 imaging processor and HD video capture at 1,920-x-1,080 resolution.
The EOS Rebel T1i features 16:9 720p HD video capture at 30 frames per second, as well as full HD 1,080p video capture at 20 fps. There is also an option to record 4:3, 30-fps standard TV quality video capture at 640-x-480 pixels. It will record video up to 4 GB per clip, or about 12 minutes of full HD video, or 18 minutes of 720p HD video.
The camera's DIGIC 4 imaging processor includes 14-bit analog-to-digital conversion and the ability to process full HD video. It allows continuous shooting at 3.4 fps for up to 170 fine JPEG images or up to nine RAW images in a single burst. ISO speeds range from ISO 100 up to ISO 3,200 in whole stop increments, and also has high-speed ISO 6,400 and ISO 12,800 options.
The EOS Rebel T1i camera is compatible with more than 60 Canon EF and EF-S lenses, including its large-aperture EF L-series professional lenses.
It's expected to be available in early May with an estimated retail price of $799.99 for the camera body only. When bundled with a Canon EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS zoom lens, the estimated retail price is expected to be $899.99, Canon said.
