New Nvidia Quadro GP Boosts Mac Pro Graphics

The Nvidia Quadro FX 4800 for Mac Pro is targeted at users who need high performance out of their GPU to perform those jobs well. The Quadro FX 4800 was designed by Nvidia using a standard 30-pin stereo connector for 3-D stereoscopic imaging, which is a key feature for any professional applications run on a Mac. Additionally, the GPU allocates compute, geometry, shading and pixel-processing power on an as-needed basis.

The new Mac-centric GPU offers a 1.5-GB frame buffer and memory bandwidth up to 76.8 GBps, which speeds up the process of delivering visualization of large models on the Mac Pro. Nvidia also says that the GPU delivers high-quality resolution for full-scene anti-aliasing.

Visualization performance is also enhanced with the Quadro FX 4800 with the inclusion of the company's CUDA parallel computing architecture, which allows for designers to have better control of the final product in video, animation, photography and production fields.

The Quadro FX 4800 for Mac Pro also takes into consideration that displays are just as important to users as the chips powering the design. To that end, Nvidia equipped the FX 4800 with a dedicated three-pin mini-din connector for stereo glasses support and up to two dual-link DVI digital connectors, which helps ensure clarity on displays.
