Samsung Teases Masses With Omnia Pro

The Omnia Pro smartphone, also known as the Samsung B7610 Louvre, the next-generation Omnia, takes queues from its predecessor but ups the ante with a 3.5-inch WVGA AMOLED (active-matrix, organic light-emitting diode) touchscreen display and a sliding QWERTY keyboard.

While full specs for the Omnia Pro have been kept under wraps, the blogosphere is buzzing with what features and functions the anticipated device is rumored to be packing. Expected to be included in the Omnia Pro along with the 3.5-inch 800 x 480 AMOLED touchscreen and QWERTY keyboard are a 5.1-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, a 3.5 mm headset jack, an 800 MHz processor, 1 GB of internal memory, an expandable microSDHC slot for a 32 GB card and 7.2 Mbps on HSDPA.

Additionally, the Omnia is expected to offer GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and microUSB support, along with TV Out, FM radio, H.264/DivX/WMV video support capabilities.

The Louvre, or Omnia Pro, is also expected to run on Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.1 mobile operating system, which will be upgradable to Windows Mobile 6.5 when it becomes available.

While Samsung didn't hint at a release date or pricing for the Omnia Pro, many expect it to hit the streets by early Fall.

Along with unveiling the Omnia Pro, Samsung also showcased its I7500 Android Smartphone, known as the Galaxy. The Android-based Samsung I7500 features a 3.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen and 7.2 Mbps HSDPA. It also features Wi-Fi, a 5-megapixel camera, 8 GB of internal memory and microSD expansion of up to 32 GB. The smartphone also features Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0 and GPS.
