Steve Jobs Back On The Job?

That's why investors and Apple fanboys are likely to be relieved at the news that Steve Jobs may be back on the job, after reports surfaced that he received a liver transplant in Tennessee. According to a report in USA Today, Jobs is back to work at Apple, albeit via email and company statements.

Citing sources at Apple, USA Today claims employees of the Cupertino Crew have been receiving emails from Jobs for the past couple of weeks.

Yesterday, Apple released a statement claiming that the iPhone 3G S sold one million units in its first three day weekend. In the statement Jobs was quoted for the first time since he took a medical leave in January, saying that the state of the iPhone is strong.

"Customers are voting and the iPhone is winning," Jobs said. "With over 50,000 applications available from Apple's revolutionary App Store, iPhone momentum is stronger than ever."

Since stepping away from Apple in January, the health and well-being of Steve Jobs has been the target of speculation. At one point -- even before he took the medical leave of absence -- Jobs' obituary was prematurely published.

Since Jobs left there has been an unending series of questions asking whether or not he would return. Apple, for its part, steadfastly maintained that Jobs would return in June. More recently, speculation began to run rampant that he would make a surprise appearance at Apple's World Wide Developers Conference on June 8.

The company denied that Jobs would appear and he didn't. Now, as June comes to a close, there are reports that Jobs is returning to work. Right on schedule.
