At XChange Security 2024—which was hosted by CRN parent The Channel Company and took place in Dallas—vendors ranging from the most well-established to newer startups showcased their latest tools geared toward MSP attendees. Among those, CRN has pulled together the key details on 10 of the products.

What follows are 10 cybersecurity tools for MSPs to know about in 2024.

Inky: Outbound Mail Protection

In addition to offering products leveraging behavioral AI such as Inbound Mail Protection and Internal Mail Protection, email security vendor Inky offers Outbound Mail Protection to protect against data loss. The company says the data loss prevention tool detects when sensitive content is at risk of being emailed out. Inky then alerts the person’s organization and initiates an approval process in order to halt the loss of the organization’s sensitive data, the company said.

CyberQP: QDesk

CyberQP’s help desk automation tool, QDesk, can assist MSPs with functions such as self-service password reset and “end-to-end” help desk automation. The offering also brings “zero trust” security to protecting the help desk itself from attack, including through enhanced verification and log change control, according to the company.

Cynomi: vCISO Platform

Now fueled by a recent $20 million fund raise, Cynomi is looking to bring its automated vCISO platform to more MSPs. Cynomi stands out by offering equivalent capabilities to a GRC (governance, risk and compliance) tool while also going further by conducting gap analysis, creating customized policies and developing a prioritized remediation plan to ensure that cybersecurity is addressed as well, according to the company.

N-Able: MDR

Earlier this year, N-Able debuted its MDR (managed detection and response) service focused on enabling MSPs to better secure their SMB clients. N‑able MDR offers “deep visibility and collaboration between MSPs, end-user organizations and, when needed, expert security analysts,” the company said in a news release. Notably, the service is also “priced to help [MSPs] build a robust security practice without compromising profitability,” the company said.

OpenText: Fortify Aviator

Just unveiled this week, OpenText’s Fortify Aviator is a new code security tool powered by AI, the company said. Fortify Aviator offers improved auditing and remediation “by more accurately identifying true vulnerabilities, explaining why an issue is a true vulnerability or a false positive, and providing fully contextualized remediations (i.e., blocks of code) that enable developers to quickly fix code issues,” the company said in a news release.

Threatlocker: MDR

ThreatLocker’s recent expansion into MDR has enabled the company to serve as “an end-to-end, comprehensive endpoint security platform,” ThreatLocker co-founder and CEO Danny Jenkins said in a previous interview. The service is delivered by ThreatLocker’s “Cyber Hero” team and is a managed version of the company’s detection tool, Ops. ThreatLocker’s MDR stands out in the crowded MDR market because it’s paired with the company’s existing advantages from automatically preventing malware on devices, according to the company.

Trend Micro: Vision One for Service Providers

Trend Micro has been doubling down on making its Vision One cybersecurity platform applicable to MSPs with the recent debut of a service-focused version of the offering. The Trend Vision One for Service Providers offering aims to present expanded opportunities for partners to launch managed services practices around the unified, AI-driven platform for threat detection, response and prevention, Trend Micro has said.

Fortinet: FortiAI

With a focus on improving network security and security operations, Fortinet recently debuted FortiAI, its GenAI-powered security assistant. Key capabilities of the tool include rapid analysis and interpretation of security incidents as well as generation of investigation queries.

Sophos: XDR

Sophos recently unveiled major updates to its extended detection and response (XDR) platform, including partner-friendly moves such as integrations with third-party tools. In addition to products from Fortinet, CrowdStrike and Palo Alto Networks, Sophos also unveiled support for products from vendors including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, Cisco Systems, SentinelOne and SonicWall.

Mailprotector: CloudFilter

Earlier this month, Mailprotector unveiled major updates to its CloudFilter secure email gateway. The product will now incorporate enhancements from Mailprotector’s recently debuted Shield offering, including an “improved threat detection engine” that promises to significantly enhance “the ability to identify and neutralize email-based threats using high-performance message evaluation algorithms,” the company said in a news release.
