Kaseya Acquires Upstart SaaS Alerts, Unveils Kaseya 365 User
‘We are committed to equipping MSPs with the most advanced tools to protect their clients’ data,’ says SaaS Alerts CEO Jim Lippie. ‘Integrating SaaS Alerts into Kaseya 365 User means MSPs can now deliver advanced threat detection and response capabilities specifically tailored to the user and application level.’
Kaseya announced today that it bought cybersecurity startup SaaS Alerts in a move to further enhance comprehensive, real-time protection for user identity and security across software-as-a-service environments.
The technology behind SaaS Alerts, an Allentown, Pa.-based software-as-a-service company that specializes in monitoring and securing SaaS applications, is now integrated into Kaseya 365 User at no additional cost.
Kaseya 365 User was also unveiled at Miami-based Kaseya’s DattoCon conference this week, in the same city, which gives MSPs the ability to help their customers prevent, respond to and recover from threats to user identity and security.
“Small businesses rely heavily on MSPs to maintain secure IT environments,” SaaS Alerts CEO Jim Lippie told CRN. “We are committed to equipping MSPs with the most advanced tools to protect their clients’ data. Integrating SaaS Alerts into Kaseya 365 User means MSPs can now deliver advanced threat detection and response capabilities specifically tailored to the user and application level.”
SaaS Alerts’ technology is expected to strengthen MSPs’ ability to protect small businesses and their customers from escalating cyber threats. The acquisition includes a team of about 50 employees. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“We’ve built a platform that helps MSPs safeguard millions of users and applications globally,” said Lippie, who said he’s staying on with the company. “Now, with Kaseya’s resources, we can drive even more impactful change for the MSP community.”
The announcement comes on the heels of Kaseya’s spring launch of Kaseya 365 Endpoint, part of a larger mission to provide end-to-end cybersecurity for MSPs. Kaseya 365 User expands this initiative by addressing user-focused cyber threats.
Marc Menzies, president and CTO of New York-based MSP Overview Technology Solutions, said there’s no denying that Kaseya is staying true to their commitment to innovation, becoming a “one stop shop” for MSPs.
“If they are able to achieve the commitment they have made to FedRAMP and include all of their service offerings, including SaaS Alerts, into the platform and have it all in one environment, they will shave a surprising amount of time and complexity, and thus cost savings, from the cost of achieving compliance from both a documentation and technology perspective,” he told CRN. “It would truly be game changing.”
SaaS Alerts was launched in 2021 to help MSPs navigate a cybersecurity landscape increasingly focused on users and applications rather than traditional device-based security. For MSPs and small businesses, the enhanced protection offered by Kaseya 365 User represents a promising shift, Lippie said.
“The MSP community can count on us to continue our dedication to their growth and security,” he said. “The integration with Kaseya lets us leverage AI and machine learning on a massive scale. With access to Kaseya’s larger data set, we’re better equipped to keep MSPs one step ahead in protecting their customers.”
Kaseya also announced a $10 million investment in a new Backup Concierge Program, which aims to reduce costs and risks for MSPs through personalized support and profitability insights.
It has enhanced its Endpoint Backup with centralized, policy-based management, flexible restore options and integration with popular MSP platforms.
Additionally, Kaseya’s PSA and Autotask now include AI-driven tools, like smart ticket summary and smart writing assistant, to streamline ticket handling and communication.
A new combination of Network Detective Pro and audIT was also announced to offer MSPs a platform for audit, discovery and reporting, and MSPs can now leverage Vonahi’s preliminary pentest evaluations.
