Roxio Rolls Out Another Winner

Creator 10 opens up to the home page of the launcher, where all the crucial apps are displayed. Divided into three sections, the page has a Digital Media Report news ticker in the middle, most-frequently-done tasks listed on the right and individual programs listed on the left. The ticker displays the latest Roxio tech-support information. The programs are organized by categories that indicate functionality: Audio, Data and Backup; Copy, Media and Devices; Photo, Video and Tools. Selecting the category provides a description of each program.

There is no lack of options. CMP Channel Test Center counted 13 audio options, including a mix-disc creator, an MP3-tag editor and LP/tape-to-digital conversion. For photos, the Test Center had a choice of enhancing single or multiple images and combining photos into panoramic views, among others. Engineers transferred content directly from a camcorder to the PC and created movies that were later burned to a DVD. Movies can be uploaded to YouTube with a single click. Creator 10 also has mobility functions, such as creating ringtones.

Roxio allows system builders to download a free version of Creator Lite. Roxio also offers a profit-sharing program using a registry patch; system builders receive a percentage of sales when customers upgrade.

Roxio left out high-definition (HD) support in Easy Media Creator 10. But that's OK. It had to leave something for version 11.
