Martynek: VoIP To Peak In 2005
Raul Martynek, CEO of VoIP solutions developer Eureka Networks, has joined his colleagues in predicting big changes for the telecom industry in 2005. Foremost among them is continued consolidation.
"This will continue to accelerate in 2005," Martynek says. "Bankruptcies, mergers and acquisitions will continue, and competition among cable companies, wireless, wireline companies and power companies will pave the way toward the introduction of new services and investments in the telecom arena."
Martynek says 2005 will be the year VoIP hits its stride. "Consumers and businesses will begin to migrate to VoIP simply because it's incrementally more feature-rich and less expensive."
But VoIP won't be the only telephony technology to make a splash. "Fiber optics will experience a breakout year, as major deployments have begun by industry behemoths," Martynek says. "As the giants move, the market moves."
