Your Friendly Router
Asante Technologies is now offering the FriendlyNET VR2004 series of VPN security routers, which provide a high-speed alternative to traditional dial-up modems for remote access to central information. The routers, the VR2004C ($169) and VR2004AC ($325), combat problems such as malicious e-mail and faulty attachments by establishing a secure communications link so remote users can directly access information instead of receiving copies of data as attachments or Web pages. The VR2004AC's integrated wireless transceiver delivers a signal power of 18 dBm, which allows signals to penetrate dense walls and provide extended distance.
