First Look: New Business-Class PC Products From Lenovo

Versatile All-In-One

Lenovo introduced five new business-class PC products this week, starting with the Morrisville, N.C.-based computer maker’s first large business-focused all-in-one PC, the ThinkCentre M90z. The M90z features a 23-inch display that can be upgraded to a touchscreen for an extra $100. Processor options include Intel Core i3 or Core i5 chips and Lenovo also offers a choice of a hard disk drive or solid state drive. The unit is built for Web conferencing, according to the vendor, and a new feature for a Lenovo all-in-one -- an easily opened back casing -- makes upgrades and maintenance simpler for IT departments.

Small But Powerful

The Lenovo ThinkStation C20’s selling point is its compact size, measuring in at 46 percent smaller than Dell’s Precision T5500 and 31 percent smaller than Hewlett-Packard’s Z600, according to Lenovo. But this workstation doesn’t compromise on performance, boasting twin Xeon processors from Intel and up to two Nvidia FX4800 class graphics cards.

Memory Machine

Lenovo’s new ThinkStation C20x will only be sold through channel partners. Sporting dual Xeon CPUs, the C20x offers up to 12 DIMM slots for as much as 96GB of DDR3 memory. What’s more, Lenovo has created a special flat power cable for the unit to reduce interior cable clutter for significant power and cooling savings.

Ethernet Express

One of two new Lenovo commercial-class monitors, the L2330x Wide offers a notebook connection without the need for a docking station by combining a port replicator and 21.5-inch monitor into one device. Peripherals are accessed through USB ports and the L2330x Wide is Lenovo’s first with a direct Ethernet cable plug-in.

Split-Screen Superstar

Lenovo’s new ThinkVision L2321x Wide offers the ability to work in split-screen mode. For example, with 2:1 mode users can view full screen PowerPoint slides on one part of the display and run other applications on the other. The ’duo’ inputs both VGA and DisplayPort video and like all of Lenovo’s new PC products, the ThinkVision L2321x meets Energy Star 5.0 standards and is EPEAT Gold rated.
