T-Mobile Dash 3G Will Drop In July

According to T-Mobile, the HTC-designed Dash, also known as the HTC Snap, will runs on Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system and hit stores in July.

The sleek device, which operates on T-Mobile's 3G network and on Wi-Fi, boasts a glossy-black finish with red accents. It features a full QWERTY keyboard, a trackball for navigation and a vibrant display.

The latest Dash model also ties together all necessary smartphone functions like voice calling, messaging, support for personal and business e-mail, GPS and synchronization with Microsoft Outlook.

"As millions of families prepare to hit the road this summer, T-Mobile is offering our first 3G-enabled Windows Mobile smartphone to help customers stay connected, organized and traveling in the right direction," Travis Warren, director of product marketing for T-Mobile USA, said in a statement. "We're excited to offer the power and style of the T-Mobile Dash 3G with high-speed Internet access thanks to T-Mobile's rapidly expanding 3G network."

The launch of the T-Mobile Dash 3G comes as the smartphone market heats up. According to stats from research firm Yankee Group, 41 percent of consumers are likely to buy a smartphone as their next mobile device, illustrating that consumer demand for smartphones is increasing.

Along with launching a new 3G device, T-Mobile said it will continue to expand its 3G network coverage. By the end of the year, T-Mobile's high-speed 3G network is expected to reach more than 200 million users in the U.S. At the end of last year, the network was available in more than 130 U.S. cities.
