CA Completes Management Makeover

The change began in January when CA named Russ Artzt, formerly executive vice president of eTrust solutions, as executive vice president for products. With the restructuring, the Islandia, N.Y.-based software vendor created five separate business units: Enterprise Systems Management, Security Management, Storage Management, Business Service Optimization, and the CA Products Group.

The new structure is expected to make CA more "accountable to business and customer needs," the company said in a statement.

The general managers overseeing each of the five business units will report to Artzt. In charge of Enterprise Systems Management will be Alan Nugent, former CTO of Novell. Toby Weiss, formerly senior vice president for eTrust product management and marketing at CA, will head Security Management, and CA storage veteran Chris Broderick will direct the Storage Management unit. The Business Service Optimization unit will be overseen by Jacob Lamm, formerly product development lead for Unicenter, and CA development executive Mark Combs will head the CA Products Group.

The business unit structure is a proven tool in the technology industry and is a natural next step for CA," recently appointed CA President and CEO John Swainson said in a statement. "We will maintain our focus on the integration of solutions and ensure this continues to be a competitive advantage. This is truly a major effort for CA and will give us the kind of accountability necessary to drive leadership across the company and growth for the long term."
