BMC Denies New Layoff Rounds
During the Houston software vendor's Wednesday earnings call for its fiscal fourth quarter, President and CEO Bob Beauchamp said headcount reductions would continue over the next two quarters.
What Beauchamp did not say is those layoffs had been announced previously. According to Chuck Stern, vice president of worldwide marketing and communication at BMC, the company will lay off "between 20 to 55 people in Europe and other countries where labor laws" limit the number of people that can be laid off at one time.
In April, BMC said it would cut headcount by about 900 employees. The employees who will lose their jobs during the next two quarters are part of the restructuring announced in April, Stern said.
"There are no statements we will make forward looking, yes or no," Stern said, when asked to say definitively whether additional layoffs will occur in the coming two quarters. "There will probably be a little attrition. But no further restructuring plan."
