Salesforce.com Goes Mobile
In April, Salesforce.com announced AppExchange Mobile, which was a result of its acquisition of Sendia for $15 million in cash. Sendia's application technology will enable more than 60 on-demand applications currently on AppExchange to extend to any mobile device or Web-enabled PC with no extra development cost or complexity.
In a statement accompanying the announcement, Salesforce.com CEO Marc Benioff said, "Our customers are eager for ways to extend their on-demand applications to the mobile workforce, and developers need a painless way to address this major opportunity." Under the terms of the deal, Sendia president and COO Alex Klyce will become senior vice president and general manager of Salesforce.com's AppExchange Mobile Business Unit.
Since the launch of AppExchange in January, Salesforce.com customers have installed more than 7,100 apps from the platform; they have conducted more than 100,000 test drives since last September. AppExchange Mobile is now available at www.sales force.com/appexchangemobile. The Enterprise Edition costs $50 per user per month, and so does the Professional Edition. AppExchange Mobile is included in the Unlimited Edition at no extra charge.
