Citrix Buys ThinGenius For Application Load Testing
Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed. ThinGenius' TLoad testing tool, first released in 2005, is currently used by 20 customers. Citrix plans to fold Edinburgh, Scotland-based ThinGenius into its Management Systems Group, where the technology will complement its EdgeSight monitoring technology.
Citrix, based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., has a habit of filling out its portfolio by acquiring promising ISVs in its partner network. In the past year, it has spent more than $67 million to acquire WAN optimization vendor Orbital Data, streaming software maker Ardence, monitoring developer Reflectant and resource management software maker Aurema.
The acquired products typically filter into Citrix's core product line. A major update to Citrix's flagship Presentation Server released last month integrated the monitoring tools that Citrix picked up from Reflectant, a move that VARs cheered. Adding useful tools like monitoring functionality to the core software gives clients more bang for the buck and helps sales, Citrix partners said.
