SAP Reports a 10 Percent Sales Gain In Its Second Quarter
In a briefing with analysts, CEO Henning Kagermann said SAP increased its share of the "core enterprise applications" market where it competes against rivals Oracle and Microsoft. Kagermann said SAP's own calculations indicate that the company held a 26 percent share of that $35.3 billion market during the year ended June 30, up from 23 percent during the period ended June 30, 2006.
The company reported that the number of deals signed during the quarter increased 17% year-over-year to 2,707. SAP's worldwide customer base now totals more than 41,000 businesses and organizations, up more than 7,000 from a year earlier, said Leo Apotheker, deputy CEO and president of customer solutions and operations.
For the first half of 2007 SAP reported revenue of 4.59 billion Euros, up 8% from the same period a year earlier, and earnings of 759 million Euros, a 9% increase. SAP is projecting that for all of 2007 software and software-related services revenue will increase between 12 and 14 percent over 2006.
