Microsoft Vista SP2 Release Candidate Hits General Availability

Release Candidate Windows Vista Server software

Microsoft announced the general availability of the release candidate software through its Customer Preview Program (CPP) in a blog posting late Wednesday. Solution providers and developers can download the trial software from Microsoft's CPP site.

Microsoft expects to release SP2 for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 sometime in the second quarter.

In addition to a number of bug fixes for Windows Vista, SP2 for Vista and Server 2008 includes Windows Search 4.0, which speeds indexing and query response times; the Bluetooth 2.1 Feature Pack, which includes the technology's most recent specification; and Windows Connect Now, which makes it easier to set up Wi-Fi connections.

Microsoft is seeking feedback on SP2 for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 through its TechNet Forums.
