Oracle Acquisition Expands PLM Offerings

software

The Conformia application specifically helps drug companies manage drug design and development and transfer to production information involving biological, pharmaceutical and chemical drug components.

Oracle said it would integrate Conformia's technology into its Oracle Agile PLM software to create a complete system for managing drug development, packaging and commercialization. Oracle acquired Agile in 2007 for $495 million.

Oracle also said it would link that system to other Oracle applications, including Oracle Health Sciences software, and third-party applications, which the company said would help pharmaceutical and bio-technology companies "accelerate innovation, meet regulatory objectives and improve productivity."

Oracle did not disclose the financial details of the Conformia acquisition.
