Schwarzenegger Makes Surprise Oracle OpenWorld Appearance
Citing such statistics as the 11,000 patents held by the two companies, Schwarzenegger congratulated what he called "two of the world's great technology giants" for their planned merger
The governor said he was honored to be "in the company of so many brilliant innovators," referring to the conference attendees. "I felt that as soon as I walked out on-stage my IQ shot up 10 points," he said to laughs.
"I love technology," the governor said. "It doesn't matter if it's high tech, bio tech, green tech, clean tech" And he said he never could have made such film classics as "The Terminator" and "Conan the Barbarian" without the use of sophisticated computer technology.
Schwarzenegger spent about 15 minutes promoting his state as a leader in information technology. He expressed hoped that one day someone would develop a hands-free cell phone for his wife, whom he said had been stopped three times for driving while using a cell phone.
He closed by imploring conference attendees: "Don't go home" and "Stay in California and spend as much money as possible."
