Zeus Offers Application Management Tools Through Amazon EC2

Zeus, which sells its software exclusively through the channel, said the move would make it easier for solution providers and their customers to develop and manage cloud applications.

Owen Garrett, product manager at Zeus, said running Zeus Traffic Manager 6.0 on EC2 offers customers more flexibility than that provided by competing hardware-software application traffic management products from F5 Networks, Citrix Systems and Cisco Systems.

Zeus software balances application workloads, helping to maintain performance and availability. Zeus Traffic Manager 6.0 just debuted last month offering cloud-computing management capabilities, multi-hosted IP addresses for better scaling of system clusters, solid-state caching for caching more content, improved traffic diagnostic tools and new virtual appliances.

Garrett said a lot of businesses want to adopt cloud computing, but they are heavily reliant on their IT solution providers to do it. He said providing Zeus Traffic Manager through Amazon EC2 would make it easier for solution providers to offer those services.
