Oracle Partner Wipro Expands E-Business Suite Upgrade Offerings
Wipro is targeting the new "Easy Upgrade" services toward Oracle customers who are using older R11 versions of the Oracle EBS applications and are considering moving up to the R12 generation of the applications, said Langbert Walker, general manager and global head of Oracle applications at Wipro Technologies.
Wipro Technologies is the information technology, consulting and outsourcing business of Wipro Ltd., the Bangalore, India-based IT services giant.
While Wipro has long offered Oracle software lifecycle management and upgrade services, the Easy Upgrade offering includes an application assessment tool for analyzing customers' IT environments and determining their readiness to upgrade to EBS R12 or Oracle Fusion applications.
Walker said Easy Upgrade reduces the amount of time and effort needed to conduct upgrade assessments, reducing assessment costs by as much as 40 percent.
Many Oracle customers are still using the 11.5.10 version of the E-Business Suite. But they face increasing support costs as that aging release moves into "extended support" in November. That's expected to spur more businesses to begin the process of upgrading to EBS R12 or even the Fusion applications that Oracle began rolling out last year.
