Interneer Adds Mobile Capabilities To Its BPM Toolset
Interneer will unveil a release of its Intellect business process management software next week with new capabilities for developing mobile applications that tie into a company's business processes.
The Interneer Intellect 7 release, the company's first in nearly three years, offers more than 50 feature enhancements, including PDF integration, support for all major browsers, and extended reporting and dashboard capabilities.
BPM tools are often used exclusively by large companies to design and manage their business processes. But Interneer CEO Romeo Elias said that's a misperception.

"Any company, at some point in their maturity and growth, needs to standardize their business processes," Elias said in an interview. "That's when they need something like BPM and workflow management."
BPM tools are used to define, configure, optimize and automate business processes and workflows around specific tasks or applications. Processing employee expense reports would be an example, as would creating a proposal and related contract.
While companies with as many as 10,000 employees use Interneer's BPM software, it's also targeted at midmarket companies and small businesses with as few as 10 or 20 employees, Elias said. "BPM has crossed the chasm and gone mainstream," he said.
While most BPM systems are complex and require a lot of integration work, Elias said Intellect is designed to be easily deployable through the use of built-in automation capabilities that don't require any programming.
Interneer offers both Software-as-a-Service and on-premise versions of Intellect with the sales split between the two running about 60 percent and 40 percent, respectively, Elias said. But he said about 80 percent of SMB customers go for the SaaS version.
About 50 percent of Interneer's sales are through the channel, according to Elias. "That's our strategy to scale the business," he said. Because implementing a BPM system means understanding a company's workflows, solution providers with vertical industry expertise are particularly adept at such projects, he added.
Alligar, a Reston, Va.-based solution provider and Interneer channel partner, has implemented Intellect for a Fortune 500 hospitality company and is in the process of implementing it for a defense contractor client. But Gary Spaid, Alligar president and CEO, said Intellect works for companies "as small as a mom-and-pop shop."
Partners get up to 50 percent off the list price of the on-premise edition of Intellect or a percentage of the monthly subscription price of the SaaS version, Elias said.
NEXT: Intellect 7's Support For Developing iPad Applications
The highlight of Intellect 7 is the new Intellect MobileApps for the iPad that extends Intellect's capabilities to the mobile device. The software offers a way to develop native mobile apps that link back to the Intellect server.
Elias said the new mobile capabilities provide opportunities for channel partners. "This is giving them a whole new level of capabilities," he said. "This is a solution that's going to be a game-changer. Mobile is huge."
Intellect MobileApps is now available as a beta release through the Apple App Store, and Elias said a version for Android devices is under development for next year.
Alligar's Spaid said Intellect 7's automated development capabilities for iPad applications are "very unique" in the industry. He's been working with Intellect for several years and said its automation capabilities are one of its key attractions.
"The beauty of Intellect is that the businesspeople are [using] it, not IT," he said.
Other enhancements in Intellect 7 include the ability to merge data from the toolset into predefined PDF forms, extended reporting and dashboard options, and advanced password policy management and security. The tools are fully integrated with Microsoft Word, according to the company, and they support Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox and Chrome browsers.
