NetSuite Buy Boosts E-Commerce App Lineup

NetSuite channel partners say they are seeing increased interest in cloud e-commerce applications and applauded the acquisition. "We are seeing plenty of interest in e-commerce in the marketplace, so NetSuite's continued investment in this area is welcomed," said Matthew Haller, a principal with Baker Tilly, a NetSuite partner based in Minneapolis, in an email to CRN.

While NetSuite is best known for its cloud ERP and financial applications, the vendor's SuiteCommerce cloud applications are a key part of its product lineup. During the company's first-quarter earnings call last month, CEO Zach Nelson said the company is seeing strong demand for that product.

OrderMotion's applications provide a way for businesses to coordinate and fulfill sales transactions across multiple channels, including brick-and-mortar stores, websites and telesales systems. NetSuite said OrderMotion's direct-to-consumer applications are especially in demand by retailers that need cross-channel capabilities to allow shoppers to order products online and pick them up at local stores.

NetSuite said it would use OrderMotion's "continuity/replenishment" capabilities to augment its existing order management applications.

Earlier this year NetSuite acquired Retail Anywhere, a developer of retail management and point-of-sale applications, in a move to expand SuiteCommerce into the retail arena.

NetSuite did not disclose the terms of the OrderMotion acquisition.
