Accenture Acquires IQT Group To ‘Build A Lower-Carbon Energy System’

‘Ultimately, we will help [customers] build a lower-carbon energy system, which will not only reduce the carbon footprint of utilities but also of the industrial value chain it powers,’ says Accenture’s Teodoro Lio.

Solution provider powerhouse Accenture unveiled plans Wednesday to acquire IQT Group in a move to make its infrastructure solutions more environmentally sustainable.

Teodoro Lio, CEO of Accenture Italy and unit leader for Italy, Central Europe and Greece, said the acquisition of IQT will boost Accenture’s engineering expertise and services related to building net-zero infrastructure projects.

“Our teams aim to support public and private companies in the utilities, energy and telecommunications sectors with digital tools to make their projects more efficient and productive,” said Lio in a statement.

“Ultimately, we will help them build a lower-carbon energy system, which will not only reduce the carbon footprint of utilities but also of the industrial value chain it powers,” Lio said.

Accenture To Integrate GenAI With IQT’s Infrastructure Projects

IQT is an Italian provider of engineering managed services for large infrastructure projects—specializing in the design and supervision of net-zero infrastructure projects around electricity generation and transmission.

The acquisition will see Accenture combine its generative AI and digital capabilities with IQT’s infrastructure project expertise to help customers plan, execute and manage net-zero infrastructure projects more efficiently.

IQT works closely with utility providers, helping private and public organizations build and modernize integrated electricity and water networks. It also supports maximizing energy efficiency of industrial and commercial sites and designs and manages networks for telecommunications operators.

IQT’s more than 450 engineers and consultants will join Accenture’s infrastructure and capital projects practice within its Industry X digital transformation unit in Italy.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
