The 20 MSP Acquires Collabrance: ‘Joining Forces Just Made Good Business Sense’

‘What's really special about this is the opportunity to work with some really great people,’ says Tim Conkle, CEO of The 20 MSP. ‘If I've learned anything in my career, it's that getting smart and [having] driven people together in the same room is a recipe for magic.’

The 20 MSP has made its ninth acquisition this year with the purchase of Master MSP Collabrance.

The acquisition of Collabrance, based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, will augment The 20’s growth platform, drive continuous improvement and “uphold our sky-high standards for excellence in service delivery," said Tim Conkle, founder and CEO of The 20.

It’s The 20 MSP’s 35th acquisition since embarking on its acquisition spree in 2022. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Conkle (pictured) said Collabrance has a similar business model to Plano, Texas-based The 20, but with a different toolset, and “joining forces just made good business sense.

“Getting to know Collabrance's team is really what sealed the deal for us,” Conkle told CRN. “Of course you get excited about expanding tools, bringing more MSPs into The 20's tent, gaining leverage with vendors, all that on-paper stuff. But what's really special about this is the opportunity to work with some really great people. If I've learned anything in my career, it's that getting smart and [having] driven people together in the same room is a recipe for magic.”

Collabrance was founded 15 years ago by GreatAmerica Financial Services to better service the office equipment industry. The company will retain its own brand as well as all 44 of its employees.

"We're excited to see Collabrance take the successful model they've built and elevate it under the direction of The 20," Martin Golobic, CEO of GreatAmerica, said in a statement. "We created Collabrance to provide another business opportunity for many of our existing GreatAmerica customers and have been so proud of what they've accomplished. The synergies between our and The 20's business tenets were obvious when we first met. This acquisition allows our Collabrance team to do what they do best, service customers, and allows them to do it with the same integrity and care that they have for the past fifteen years.”

Conkle said the addition of Collabrance’s team is a “win for us” as well as The 20’s collective client base who can expect expanded service, enhanced capabilities and 24/7 support going forward.

“It's hard to overstate Collabrance's strategic value,” he said. “Their clients consist largely of copier companies with newly launched MSP divisions. These companies are definitely poised for growth, especially with Collabrance's flexible platform and robust integrations with

ConnectWise and N-able. I think The 20's support and intimate understanding of the channel will catalyze a ton of new growth for Collabrance's network. They have the talent, the processes, the great service and now they have The 20 at their side to help them achieve the growth that's theirs for the taking.”
