NEC Solutions America Promotes Sheffield

NEC Solutions America on April 1 will promote Larry Sheffield to executive vice president of the company's Solutions Platform Group. In his new role for the Rancho Cordova, Calif.-based enterprise solution provider, Sheffield will increase to help drive strategy and sales initiatives for the company high-performance computing (HPC) and media solutions.

Sheffield has led the Solutions Platform Group since June 2003, during which he expanded the company's line of servers and storage hardware. He also manages software and removable storage divisions.

"NEC Solutions America's server and software business has thrived under Mr. Sheffield's stewardship. As we further expand our server-related offerings and technology practices, he is the natural choice to lead that expansion," said Toshi Iwanami, president and CEO of NEC Solutions America, in a statement.

Before coming to NEC Solutions America, Sheffield was senior vice president of the Americas for Silicon Graphics, where he was oversaw worldwide sales channel and operations. Before that, he worked for close to 30 years at IBM, where he developed and implemented e-business solutions for the storage division.
