Acer Unveils AMD Turion-based Notebooks
The new Acer Aspire 5000 and 5020 series notebooks, said Acer, are aimed at small- and medium-sized businesses, as well as small office-home office users. The 5000 sports a 15- or 15.4-inch display, while the 5020 boasts advanced multimedia features such as CD and DVD burners, S-Video out and FireWire connections, and a supporting chip set that lets users send video to compatible TV sets.
AMD's Turion is designed for the "thin and light" notebook market, and feature power-saving technologies that can reduce battery consumption by up to 75 percent, AMD has said.
Acer's Aspire 5000 will ship late this month, while the Aspire 5020 will roll out in late April. Pricing for both systems has not yet been set.
