Dell Debuts Its Lightest Laptop
The Latitude X1 features a 12.1-inch display with a shorter-than-usual height to, said Dell, fit in tight spaces such as airline tray tables. Other frequent-flier features include a reinforced back to the display so it can take the weight if it's buried by bags in an overhead bin, and a sealed keyboard to protect against spills. Even the power supply, said Dell, has been miniaturized and put on a diet to reduce its size and weight. Dell said it's about half the size of a typical Latitude power brick.
Powered by a 1.1GHz Intel Pentium M processor, able to contain between 256MB and 1.28GB of RAM, and equipped standard with 802.11b/g and Bluetooth wireless, the X1 starts at $1,699, and like all Dells, can be custom configured prior to ordering.
