Nvidia To Acquire 3D Graphics Company
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Under the agreement, Hybrid Graphics will become a subsidiary of Nvidia Corp. (Santa Clara, Calif.) and continue to market and sell its products under the Hybrid name. Hybrid Graphics will maintain full support for its existing customer base, while growing its engineering department and driving new business opportunities.
"Joining with NVIDIA will enable Hybrid to both accelerate its growth and continue to play a key role in defining, developing and shipping pervasive graphics solutions for the handheld industry," said Mikael Honkavaara, chief executive of Hybrid Graphics, in a statement.
Founded in 1994, Hybrid Graphics counts as its key customers Nokia, Ericsson, Philips, Samsung, and Symbian, encompassing over 50 percent of the existing handheld market.
