Intel Cuts Celeron Pricing

Intel

The company posted new Celeron prices over the weekend but left the rest of its Pentium and Xeon pricing untouched.

Intel cut prices on four different performing Celerons, including its 1.3GHz version, which was slashed from $103 to $84 in 1,000-unit quantities.

Pricing on the 1.2GHz chip was cut from $89 to $79; its 1.1GHz Celeron was cut from $79 to $69; and its 1AGHZ Celeron from $69 to $64. All prices, posted on Intel's pricing Web site, are for 1,000-unit quantities.

Intel spokesmen were not immediately available to discuss the price cut. Generally, the company does not comment on its pricing except to say that it adjusts prices from time to time based on market conditions.

Since the fourth quarter of 2001, however, Intel's price cuts have been less frequent and not as deep as they were for most of last year.
