Avnet Computer Marketing Achieves ISO 9001:2000 Certification

The certification means that Avnet Computer Marketing, which consists of distributor Avnet Hall-Mark and Avnet Enterprise Solutions, a solution provider arm, has achieved the highest standards for quality processes developed by the ISO, according to Avnet.

The ISO 9001:2000 standards were developed by the ISO in 2000 and replaced the previous set of standards, according to Avnet.

"Achieving the ISO 9001:2000 certification is a testimonial to the emphasis we put on raising the bar on customer satisfaction," said Bob Nail, senior vice president of supply chain management at Avnet Computer Marketing, in a statement. "This has been a cross-functional team effort requiring concentration on best practices in sales, logistics, materials management and partnering with suppliers. These are the things we work at every day to enhance our value as part of the sales process to customers, so it's quite rewarding to see that effort recognized with the ISO certification."

Certification is based on eight principles: customer-focused organization, leadership, involvement of people, process approach, systems approach to management, continual improvement, factual approach to decision making and mutually beneficial supplier relationships. The new ISO 9001:2000 standard requires companies to link their business processes together to ensure consistent quality management throughout the organization.

Previously, companies were certified from an individual functional standpoint. All ISO-certified companies are required to adhere to the new standards prior to the end of 2003 to maintain their ISO certification.

Avnet Computer Marketing also holds the certification for its European headquarters, based in Belgium.
