Novell, Avnet Strike Distribution Deal

The alliance covers Novell's PlateSpin Recon, PlateSpin Migrate, PlateSpin Protect and PlateSpin Orchestrate software. Those tools are used to manage IT system workloads across both physical and virtual computing infrastructures.

Novell acquired Toronto-based PlateSpin in February for $205 million in a bid to expand the company's IT management offerings, especially in the area of managing virtual systems.

Avnet and Novell said the two companies would jointly provide training and sales support for Avnet VARs and solution providers that resell the PlateSpin product line.
