Ingram Launches Recycling Program For Printer Cartridges, Cell Phones
The Smart Steward program provides solution providers with a trade-in payment for toner and ink cartridges and small electronic devices such as mobile phones, according to the distributor. Through a Web site , VARs can request shipping materials to return the recyclable items, and set up accounts for their own business or for their customers.
"Our company is dedicated to helping our business partners excel in a way that is responsible to our communities," said Keith Bradley, senior executive vice president and president, North America, in a statement. "Through the Smart Steward program, we provide an efficient recycling program that offers our customers an additional revenue stream to help them increase profitability. They reduce landfill waste and receive payment for their efforts, while Ingram Micro contributes to a greener planet and strengthens our customer relationships."
The money earned for recycling the cartridges and cell phones is subject to market conditions, according to Ingram Micro. Pricing is adjusted monthly and new buyback lists are posted to the Web site at the beginning of each month after registration into the program is completed. VARs can expect to receive payment after checks are issued around the 15th of each month.
The Smart Steward program is part of a larger Smart Citizen initiative launched by Ingram Micro last year.
