Intermedia Credits Rapid 2010 Expansion To Channel Program
Partners overall saw a 50 percent increase in the number of total mailboxes hosted in 2010 over 2009, according to the company. "Last year the majority of our sales were through channel partners," said Bob Leibholz, senior vice president of sales and business development, in an interview. "The channel really took off in 2010."
That growth has continued into this year with a 114 percent sales increase in January compared to January 2010.
Intermedia today has some 6,500 resellers in its Private Label Partner Program, including managed service providers and Web hosting companies, who sell the hosted Microsoft Exchange 2010 under their own brands. That represents a 45 percent increase from the end of 2009, according to the company.
Intermedia is holding its third annual partner summit in New York City this week where under the theme of "moving beyond the mailbox" Intermedia is encouraging channel partners to expand the range of products and services they offer.
This quarter Intermedia has rolled out e-mail encryption, a hosted PBX with unlimited domestic VoIP telephone service, and unified communications. Those new offerings are integrated with the hosted Exchange and Outlook applications.
While Intermedia works directly with a great many partners, some host the company's Exchange service through a program with distributor Ingram Micro</>.
