Microsoft's Enterprise Sales Chief To Depart

Witts' departure was announced Tuesday within Microsoft in an internal e-mail, according to a story on the San Francisco Chronicle's Web site. This morning a Microsoft spokesperson confirmed that Witts is leaving Microsoft.

No information about the reason for Witts' departure or about who will be named to replace him was available. The spokesperson said the company is currently searching for his replacement.

As corporate vice president, enterprise & partner group, Witts has been responsible for Microsoft's sales to its 10,000 largest global customers and the solution providers that work with them, according to his official biography. His position oversees Microsoft's enterprise partner network, made up of the company's largest partners, including systems integrators, ISVs and Microsoft Dynamics application resellers.

Witts has worked in enterprise sales at Microsoft since 1993, according to his biography. Earlier in his career at the company he managed the company's sales and marketing efforts in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, served as president of Microsoft Canada, and held various management posts in Microsoft's U.K. subsidiary.
