Continuum To Add Mobility, Virtualization Support For MSPs

It's been a busy three months for Continuum, the RMM and business continuity platform company that renamed itself from Zenith RMM in order to distance itself from former owner Zenith Infotech.

The Woburn, Mass.-based company has been busy. It named a new vice president of global service delivery Monday and recently launched its Continuum Vault backup and disaster recovery (BDR) service. It is near the end of a multi-city road show and has struck a partnership with LogMeIn to provide remote access capabilities through Continuum's RMM and business continuity solutions.

"We're meeting with [partners] by the hundreds. It's been a great, enlightening experience," Michael George, CEO of Continuum, recently told CRN at UBM Channel's XChange Solution Provider conference in Los Angeles.

Continuum shortly plans to release support for Apple Mac devices and support for virtual environments, including both Microsoft Hyper V, and Citrix XenServer will be available in the second half of the year, George said. In addition to the Mac platform, more big development is happening around Apple's iOs devices, which are becoming more prevalent in the workplace, George said.

"The iPad is what finally broke the barrier [for Apple] into the business environment. The iPhone was still a tethered extension [to corporate networks] but the iPad has become a business utility. People are looking for mobility not just from the iPad but we're supporting all those devices, whatever they might be. People work in a more mobile work environment and that's what's going to drag Apple into the [commercial market]," George said.

Looking further out, George said Continuum plans to allow MSPs to remotely monitor and manage "anything that is plugged into the wall in an SMB environment," including VoIP phones, the network hub itself and print management.

"Our big focus is extending end point coverage with support of Mac, Linux and mobile devices. We're starting with iOS and also be adding Droid support and Windows support as well [in the second quarter]," said Steve Ricketts, vice president of marketing at Continuum.

The newly-hired Barnes will help boost those efforts and lead Continuum's network operations center and help desk services, according to Continuum. Barnes has served as a global head of technology services and IT security at Celgene, a global vice president of technology support at JP Morgan Chase and program director of managed services at Siemens Business Services.

Barnes helped create a Center of Excellent for Celgene in India, which helped that company increase service levels, productivity and efficiency, according to George.

Continuum's 10-city road show concludes Tuesday in Chicago.
